Rome if You Want to with New Study Abroad Program

February 2, 2017

This summer, all College of Design programs lead to Rome with our first open interdisciplinary studio Italian Design Studio: Blending Tradition and Innovation.

Starting the week of May 24th, this six week 3-credit design studio is open to students from across the College of Design, including the retail merchandising, apparel design, graphic design, interior design, architecture, and landscape architecture programs. Students from other universities with foundational skills in design and/or the visual arts are also welcome. The deadline to apply is March 1st.

Studio participants will work together to discover the productive intersection of ideas, using the city of Rome, and its makers, as inspiration and context for interdisciplinary design work. Students will engage with four approaches to making: additive making, subtractive making, forming/shaping, and individual units that multiply into a whole.

Applicants are encouraged to apply for the evaluator discount and to take a look at the design internships that are also available within the program. Learn more about scholarships, internships, and the program here.
