Jessica Rossi-Mastracci

Assistant Professor, Landscape Architecture

Jessica Rossi-Mastracci is an Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture at the University of Minnesota, and the Kusske Design Initiative (KDI) Co-Principal for 2021–2023. From 2010–2019, she gained professional experience in award-winning landscape architecture and urbanism firms, including TEN x TEN in Minneapolis, MN; Bionic Landscape in San Francisco, CA; TLS Landscape Architecture in Berkeley, CA; and West8 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Jessica is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architecture, Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, and is a licensed Landscape Architect.

Bridging her experience in professional practice and academia, Jessica investigates new ways of adapting to future unknown conditions in extreme landscapes, with a focus on infrastructure, materiality, and ephemerality. Recent research work catalogs land-based water, fire, and land infrastructures, exploring indigenous, historic, and low-tech infrastructural methodologies and construction methods as ways of speculating on design responses to climate change and urban landscape systems. She teaches in landscape construction, infrastructure and systems, advanced planning and design, digital representation, and graduate design studios.
