Nicollet Ave Design & Transportation Plan

Simple sketch of urban design and transportation plans for Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis, MN

Nicollet Avenue, south of Lake Street, is a Minneapolis Community Corridor. In the Minneapolis Plan, community corridors are described as streets that "link people to each other, to local institutions and to daily destinations...connect neighborhoods, serve as a principal travel route for many residents and visitors, and are almost always characterized by their limited mixed use" (p. 1.4.30). In other words, community corridors lend identity to individual neighborhoods, provide public space, and accommodate many transportation modes.
