The MDC has completed a two-year pilot project with the regional community group Southeast Minnesota Together and with three communities in Southeast Minnesota: Wabasha, Spring Grove, and Grand Meadow, using human-centered design methods to help those communities envision a better future based on their existing assets. In all three communities, that strategic way of working identified underused resources and untapped connections that will help them attract both visitors and new residents. The goal of the project was to demonstrate the effectiveness of design thinking as a way to help Greater Minnesota communities re-imagine their futures in the 21st century. Funding was provided by the State of MN.
