2000 | Redressing Tradition: Hmong Clothing in Minnesota

Redressing Tradition: Hmong Clothing in Minnesota

The year 2000 was the 25th anniversary of the Hmong immigration to Minnesota. Between 1975 and 2000, between 75,000 and 100,000 Hmong moved to Minnesota. This exhibition challenged the idea that tradition is fixed in time and space. In Hmong culture, fluidity is embraced as an essential aspect of their tradition. The exhibition looks at how Hmong fashion evolved between 1975 and 2000.
