Beverley Oliver Hawkins and Nieeta Presley: Influential St. Paul Developers

This exhibition was inspired by a statement from Beverley Hawkins to Nieeta Presley: “We are not good at telling our own story.” Although I was just eavesdropping, I decided to find a way to help them tell their story and this exhibition is the outcome.

This exhibition was inspired by a statement from Beverley Hawkins to Nieeta Presley: “We are not good at telling our own story.” Although I was just eavesdropping, I decided to find a way to help them tell their story and this exhibition is the outcome. I am grateful for time spent with two powerful, hard-working, mission-driven female developers. My goal was to faithfully, honestly share the contributions, motivations, struggles, and successes of two developers who have influenced economic development and affordable housing along Saint Paul’s East Central Corridor. Many thanks for contributions from their colleagues, collaborators, friends, partners, and the residents and tenants blessed to occupy space in their buildings. My hope is that Beverley and Nieeta’s stories continue to inspire the development of affordable housing and just economic opportunities.
