Tony Chevalier

Adjunct Associate Professor, Landscape Architecture

Tony has a very diverse background, which combines the creative problem solving abilities of a designer with the systematic analysis abilities of a planner. His focus is on providing innovative design solutions that are responsive to place, promoting social, economical and environmental sustainability. Tony’s professional experience includes master planning, park and trail design, streetscapes, waterfront redevelopment, mixed-use development, municipal redevelopment projects, site design, and planting design, amongst others.

In addition to his work as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the College of Design, Tony works as a Senior Landscape Architect for MnDOT where he provides technical design expertise and project management in the Site Development Unit, with a focus on State rest areas.

He enjoys creating poetry in the landscape, finding opportunity in adversity, and creating value out of perceived liability. His personal belief is that great ideas are at the confluence of what makes the practical poetic, and the functional fundamental.
