Deb Lawton

Senior Lecturer, Graphic Design

Debra Lawton has been teaching digital arts and graphic design for 14 years and enjoys bringing her real world experience of graphic design into the classroom. As a member of American Institute of Graphic Arts she works on the Education Committee to help create a dialog between education and the design community. She is involved in design for good and works with non profit organizations to help them better market themselves.

Students will develop both 'experimental' and 'practical' projects that will allow students to develop their own style, while being responsive to formal theory. Assignments include collaboration with a local business, departments within the college, or fictional scenarios that replicate the constraints a designer will face in the business community.

"I encourage students to create conceptual ideas through a process of research, ideation, and refinement so that they can create beautifully executed images with the end result to communicate the clients needs."
