In January 2016, CSBR and SeventhWave jointly received a $300,000 CARD (Conducting an Applied Research and Development study) grant from the Minnesota Department of Commerce to study an innovated design process to create highly energy efficient building at little or no cost. This innovate process is an alternative to the current accepted believe that "you have to pay more for higher efficiency in building."

Four design projects will be accepted into the pilot study- 2 public funded buildings and 2-private funded buildings. This innovative process will be documented to determine whether building can in fact be design to be more efficiency with little or no additional cost. One requirement of the program is that project is still in pre-design and hasn't formally selected an architectural or engineering firm. The final report will be completed in October 2017.
