ABOUT THE PROJECT

“Regenerative Inhabitations” examines the impacts of iron ore mining on Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range in parallel with future climate and social needs of the region. The project goal is to begin shifting away from existing infrastructures of non-renewable resource extraction towards land-based, regenerative future landscape systems. It considers the repurposing of an inactive iron ore mine in Biwabik, MN as site for bio-based material production through regenerative forestry practices with the capacity for providing ongoing opportunities for a range of human and non-human inhabitations.
