ABOUT THE PROJECT
After decades of economic duress, Rockford, Illinois is beginning to get back on its feet. As a reaction to numerous ill-fitting developmental proposals, outside factors, and local history, this project offers an alternative approach to redevelopment. Focusing on connection to the river, this multi-phase plan prioritizes access and human connection to the body of water that fed the life of the city, using the river as a driver of development and placemaking in a region increasingly disconnected from its greatest amenity.
