About the minor
Graduate students in other programs may pursue a minor in heritage studies and public history (HSPH). You will gain familiarity and experience in the field of heritage studies as it is framed in our program—prioritizing diversity, interdisciplinary work, and engagement—and will become better qualified in seeking employment.
Program Details
Masters students
- 9 credits required
- Two required seminars:
- HSPH 8001 Who Owns the Past?
- HSPH 8003 Race and Indigeneity in Heritage Representation
- One elective from HSPH-approved offerings in a discipline outside of your major field
- HSPH Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) must approve your degree program form
- HSPH-affiliated faculty should be on your Plan A or B committee
PhD students
- 12 credits required
- Two required seminars:
- HSPH 8001 Who Owns the Past?
- HSPH 8003 Race and Indigeneity in Heritage Representation
- Two electives, one of which must be in a discipline outside of the student’s major field. One of these electives may be the capstone course if appropriate (i.e., if you are working on a community-engaged project).
