Add and Configure a Custom Footer Block

Step 1 Create the Block
  • Go to Structure > Block layout > Custom block library
  • Click + add custom block.
  • Select Footer. A form for "Add Footer custom block" will display. This is similar to adding a new node where the fields have been created for you. This custom block template allows for the 4 column footer block.
  • The description of the block is for internal purposes only and does not display.
  • There are fields for the 4 columns: Block 1 Title + Block 1 Content; Block 2 Title + Block 2 Content; Block 2 Title + Block 2 Content; Block 4 Title + Block 4 Content;
  • After saving, your saved Footer will display in the Custom block library list of blocks.

Step 2 Add the Block to a node or nodes
  • Go to Structure > Block layout. This page shows the block placement areas available on your site.
  • Scroll down to find the "Above footer" area of the site. (This is the area above the UMN controlled footer.) Click the Place Block button.
  • A popup box will appear. In the search box, start typing in the title of the Footer block you created and it should be filtered in the list. Click the "Place block" button adjacent to your Footer block.
  • The screen changes to the Configuration of your block. This is where you control where your block can display. Click to the Pages menu option on the left. In the input box, identify the pages where your block can display.
  • Click Save.

Cloning paragraphs

When cloning paragraphs and components, do not clone taxonomy terms nor media entities.  This helps ensure that taxonomy terms and media entities are not duplicated during the clone process.
