In the architecture profession, the term “internship” typically refers to the Architectural Experience Program (AEP), which is the formal training required to become a licensed architect. The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) has very specific conditions indicating when an architecture student may begin the AXP process. For more information and to see if you qualify for AXP, visit NCARB’s “Gain an AXP Experience” web page.
For students who are not eligible to participate in AXP but who would like to gain related work experience, visit Career and Internship Services. The career staff can help you find information and resources about obtaining work experience in the architecture and design field while you are an undergraduate student.
