Lab Printing Instructions
Photo, Plotters, and Textile
NEW FOR FALL SEMESTER: For plotting or printing to the photo or textile printers, use this Google Form to submit your print job. A lab attendant will contact you when your print job is ready for pickup.
Files must be submitted as an Adobe Acrobat PDF. If files are converted from another program, make sure to flatten all layers prior to converting to PDF for best results.
In addition to flattening layers, the following tips are for best printing results:
- Keep resolution lower on large prints. 150 is fine most of the time.
- When exporting a PDF, uncheck the box that says "Preserve Illustrator [or InDesign] editing capabilities.
- If you are having problems with vector objects, you may want to rasterize the entire file in Photoshop, then resave as PDF.
For printing to the laser printers, select the desired laser printer in the print dialog box when printing your document. After sending the print job from your computer, go to the Pharos print station located next to the laser printers. Slide your UCard through the card reader in the keyboard at the print release station. Find your print jobs on the screen and select the jobs you want to send to the printer. By clicking "print", you are agreeing to pay the cost shown on the screen. You must have sufficient funds in your GopherGold account to pay for your print jobs. Your selected jobs will be sent to and can be retrieved from the selected printer.
Please see the lab attendants if assistance is needed with printing to the laser printers.
