An Evening at Eastcliff

Join the Friends of the Goldstein Museum of Design at the beautiful home and gardens of the president of the University of Minnesota. Two MNfashion designers, Allison Quinnell (BS Clothing Design, 2007) and Amanda Christine will share a sneak peak of their new collections. Space is limited.

ASLA Conference Education Session V (Saturday, September 19, 2009 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) will feature professor and head of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Lance Neckar, exploring the relationship between Landscape Journal and the profession. Neckar is co-editor of Landscape Journal with David Pitt.

Zandra Rhodes Lecture

College of Design Homecoming Reception and Stadium Tour

Reconnect with alumni and friends of the college at Station 19. Catch up on news from the college, learn more about design features of the new TCF Bank Stadium, and get a chance to win free tickets to attend the homecoming football game (Gophers vs. Purdue, Saturday, October 10). After the reception, walk across the street for a closer look at the stadium during the University's TCF Bank Stadium Tours and University Open House, including guided tours, interactive exhibits showcasing the world-class academics, research and outreach at the University, concessions, and more.
Space at Station 19 reception is limited. Registration is requested by October 1.
Stadium Open House does not require an RSVP.

Design on Film: Fashion Speaks
Join us this fall for the stories behind the top fashion designers -- the new Goldstein Design on Film series presents features, documentaries, and short works on design and designers.

2009 Solar Decathlon -- Alumni reception and tour of U of M's ICON Solar House

Cosponsored by the College of Design, Institute of Technology, and University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) Washington DC Chapter. Solar Decathlon exhibition and competition runs October 8-18 on the National Mall. Tours of all houses free and open to the public.

American Craft Council Conference 2009 Sunday Craft Tours & Champagne Brunch
Sunday, October 18, 2009, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Goldstein Museum of Design will be the third stop on one of two Sunday tours associated with the American Craft Council (ACC) conference. Tours begin with a champagne brunch at the Grand Hand Gallery with featured artists Warren and Nancy McKenzie and Kinji Akagawa and his wife, Nancy Gipple, from 9-11 a.m. followed by concurrent tours of local galleries and studios.

Tour 2B on the ACC conference program features a guided tour of the Goldstein exhibition, Intersections: Where Art and Fashion Meet, which pairs works of art with designer fashion to celebrate the relationship between contemporary art, fashion, and popular culture. The tour also includes stops at the Will Swanson and Janel Jacobsen Studio (pottery and netsuke wood carving) in Harris and the Textile Center in Saint Paul.

The ACC Conference 2009: Creating a New Craft Culture, takes place in Minneapolis, October 15-17, 2009. Details at the Craft Council Web site.

An Evening with Designer Yeohlee Teng

American Institute of Architects Student (AIAS) Forum 2009

Presented by the AIAS in partnership with the AIAS CDes chapter, this event by and for students also offers opportunities for professionals in architecture and related professions to earn continuing education units, showcase their firms, and make connections with architecture students from across the US at the career fair. Participate in the Beaux Arts Ball, a design-oriented masquerade ball open to all, at the McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota, on New Year's Eve.
