Congratulations and welcome to the College of Design (CDes)! We'll do all we can to help you get started here. Be sure to check your postal mail, email, and this Website (shortcut: z.umn.edu/cdesclassof2017) for information to assist you in moving forward.
Please read over information about your CDes major and contact me right away if you are at all questioning whether it is a good fit for you. Admission to another CDes major requires that your application be re-reviewed based on competitiveness and available space in the major, so it's best to have this kind of conversation as early as possible. If you want to hear about your major from a student perspective, be sure to follow the CDes Student Blogs at z.umn.edu/cdesblogs.
The deadline to confirm your enrollment for fall 2013 is May 1, 2013. When you confirm your enrollment, you are declaring your intent to attend the University of Minnesota, and we will reserve a place for you in the incoming class. Students who confirm their enrollment will receive a fall 2013 orientation invitation.
To confirm your enrollment simply return the enrollment confirmation form (included with your U of M admission letter) and the confirmation fee to the Office of Admissions by May 1, 2013. Confirmation forms and fees received after the May 1, 2013, postmark priority deadline are accepted on a space-available basis.
Once you confirm your enrollment for fall 2013, be sure to initiate your Internet ID, password, and email account. Check your U of M email frequently, as this is our official method of communication with you. We don't want you to miss important information, requests, and deadlines!
Orientation letters will start arriving in the mail in mid March 2013 to students who have confirmed their enrollment for fall term. Once you have received orientation information you can begin choosing your orientation date starting April 3, 2013. Check back here in early Spring for a link to reserve your date and for your New Student Checklist. Note: it takes admissions five days to process your enrollment confirmation.
Your college experience continues with Welcome Week, which takes place the week before classes start. Welcome Week is a required on-campus program designed to continue and complement your orientation experience, provide opportunities to enhance your academic and personal success, and prepare you to begin school on the following Tuesday!
