Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships for Study Abroad in 2011-12

Opportunities are offered for a year of study abroad in nearly 100 host countries. Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars receive a flat grant of $25,000 to support their studies. May not be used for university-sponsored study abroad programs. Language proficiency requirements apply to some destinations. SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, SENIORS, AND GRADUATES may apply. Must be a citizen of a country with Rotary Clubs. Applicants should have strong academic records and a commitment to service. Initial application is made through a Rotary Club in the applicant's hometown or place of current full-time study. APPLY THIS JANUARY for scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year. Talbots Charitable Foundation 2010 Women's Scholarship Fund and Nancy Talbot Scholarship Award

In keeping with its long-standing tradition of helping women succeed, the Talbots Charitable Foundation is proud to present the 2010 Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund and the inaugural Nancy Talbot Scholarship Award for perseverance and ingenuity, which is presented in memory of the founder of Talbots. This program empowers women to enrich themselves through learning and achieve a college education later in life.

Completely re-imagined, the Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund will award $180,000 in college scholarships for the 2010 academic year, including ten $15,000 scholarships and one $30,000 scholarship to an extraordinary finalist demonstrating courage, conviction and an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit.

The Learning Abroad Center's Scholarship Database allows you to search for funding and scholarship opportunities (U of M and non U of M opportunities) to help pay for your next adventure.

Gilman International Scholarship Program

Applications due: October 6, 2009 for Spring and Summer 2010 study abroad experiences. The Gilman Scholarship is open to all U.S. undergraduate students, who meet the criteria listed below:

  • United States Citizen
  • Undergraduate student attending a U.S. institution of higher education
  • Receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application or provide proof that he/she will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of study abroad
  • Currently applying to or has been accepted into a study abroad program and will receive academic credit at the home institution.
  • Studying abroad for at least four weeks and no more than one academic year in one country

NEWH: The Hospitality Industry Network

The deadline has been extended by one week.  The new deadline is Friday October 31, 2009.  We are giving away 2 scholarships this year, one for $1500 and another for $1000.

NEWH is offering scholarships to students who are pursuing careers affliliated with the Hospitality Industry (i.e., hotel/restaurant management, culinary, food service, architecture, design, etc.).

University of Minnesota Women's Club Scholarship

Application Deadline: June 2, 2009

This scholarship is for upcoming sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate female students. Applicants must be full-time students with at least 12 credits per semester, have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, and be a Minnesota resident. Please submit application by June 2.

YMA Fashion Scholarships

The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund is committed to advancing the fashion industry by encouraging talented and enterprising young people to pursue careers in design, merchandising, retailing and business disciplines. Scholarships available range from $5000 to $25,000. For more information on the YMA fund and requirements to become a YMA scholar, visit their website. The selection cycle begins in October.

APA Urban Design and Preservation Fellowship

Application Deadline: September 1, 2009

One fellowship and $2,000 stipend will be awarded per semester to a student to work with the American Planning Asoociation's UDP division and foster interest in the study of urban design and preservation. The program is open to third and fourth year undergraduate students, as well as first and second year masters degree students.

NACCED (National Association for County Community and Economic Development) Annual John C. Murphy Scholarship Grant Award Program

Entry deadline:  September 11, 2009. 

This annual $2,000 scholarship is for undergraduate or graduate students with a chosen field of study that includes course work in the areas of affordable housing and/or community and economic development. 

Footwear Design Scholarships These scholarship opportunities are open to any student who is studying design with a focus on footwear. Awards are based on financial need and design potential. Scholarships have ranged from $1000 up to $5000 per year.

Design*Sponge Scholarship

Application deadline: May 2, 2008

The 2008 Design*Sponge Scholarship is intended to assist art and design students in the pursuit of their creative endeavors through financial support. Scholarships range from $1,300 to $5,500, and can be used in any way the winners feel best suits their creative needs. All entrants must be currently enrolled undergraduate students of graphic design, textiles, ceramics, interior design, or product/furniture design.

Talbot Women's Scholarship Fund

A scholarship fund for women who earned their high school diploma or G.E.D. at least 10 years ago and are now seeking an undergraduate degree.

Jay Walter Tyson Memorial Scholarship - Assembly of Architects Scholarship

Application Deadline:  October 5, 2008

This scholarship by the Assembly of Architects has been established to support high school and college students of color who wish to pursue a professional education in architecture or architecturally-related fields. 

Minnesota Association of Housing Code Officials (MAHCO) Scholarship

(MAHCO) is a non-profit professional organization serving the needs of Minnesota Housing Inspectors throughout the State.
