American Institute of Architects (AIA)

AIA is the leading professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners. Through education, legislative and regulatory development, professional education, and research, the AIA and its more than 83,500 members express their commitment to excellence in design and livability in our nation’s buildings and communities.

Minnesota also has a state chapter.

Assembly of Architects (AOA)

Assembly of Architects is a Minnesota-based organization for architects of color. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting design professionals with networking, job placement, and mentorship opportunities.

 

Association for Computer-Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA)

ACADIA was formed for the purpose of facilitating communication and critical thinking regarding the use of computers in architecture, planning and building science. A particular focus is education and the software, hardware and pedagogy involved in education. The organization is also committed to the research and development of computer aides that enhance design creativity.

 

Association for Women in Architecture (AWA)

AWA is a professional education organization dedicated to advancing and supporting the positions of women in architecture and allied fields. 

 

National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)

NAAB is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture in the United States.

 

National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB)

NCARB is committed to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public through effective regulation and exemplary service. 

 

National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA)

NOMA promotes the quality and excellence of minority design professionals.

 

US Green Building Council (USGBC)

USGBC works to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. It is a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices.
