NEW Continuing Education Course for Spring
Building Code Radon Control Requirements for New Homes New requirements for radon control in residential buildings take effect January 1. Examine the strengths, limitations, and critical aspects of Appendix F of the International Residential Code (IRC), which was adopted as a requirement of the Minnesota Building Code. This course will provide an overview of radon basics, including health effects, radon entry, and research highlights. Brief attention will also be given to ASTM 1465-07a, Standard Practice for Radon Control Options for the Design and Construction of New Low-Rise Residential Buildings, and arguments to install active versus passive soil depressurization systems. Research concerning the use of active soil depressurization for control of indoor moisture will also be cited. Rapson 225 To register:
