Project Description:

Design Forward gathers the College of Design community together for a volunteer project at The Food Group on Saturday, April 22. We will be sorting and packaging donated food to fight against hunger!

The Food Group is a food bank dedicated to fighting hunger and nourishing our community. They distribute good food to a network of more than 200 hunger relief partners.

Warehouse projects range from sorting donated food, re-packaging bulk food into consumer size packages, packaging fresh produce or frozen meat items, etc. These items go to Fare for All sites and 200 partner agencies, including food shelves and community programs that directly serve people living with food insecurity.

Who can participate? Alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and family members age 11 and older.

Cost? FREE but registration is required.

Registration: z.umn.edu/designforward2017 (Please register once per person.)

Preparing to volunteer: Wear comfortable work clothes. Bring a drink or snack if desired. Coffee and water will be provided. We'll provide black, Design Forward t-shirts to all participants at the event. If you have one from a previous project, you can wear that and opt out when registering.
